A persistent cyberbully from Mabe who sent vile emails to three people has been slapped with a restraining order.

Samuel Hughes of Pen An Vre, Treliever Road, Mabe Burnthouse pleaded guilty to charges of sending indecent, obscene and threatening emails when he appeared at Truro Magistrates court on Tuesday.

The 34-old admitted sending emails that were grossly offensive or of an indecent, obscene or menacing character to one man on August 28 last year.

For this offence he was given a year long community order and issued with a restraining order lasting until April 22, 2026 preventing him from contacting the victim of his email messages directly or indirectly.

Another offence of sending obscene and threatening e-mails to a woman on June 27 last year was withdrawn and recorded as being taken into account. However another restraining order was granted until the same date preventing him from contacting her.

Hughes also admitted sending obscene and threatening emails to another man on August 28 last year for which he was fined £507 and given the same community order. He was also given another restraining lasting until April 22, 2026 ordering him not to contact the man he had sent the vile messages to.

He was also ordered to pay Crown Prosecution Service costs of £85 and a victim surcharge of £114. His guilty pleas and the number of offences were taken into account by magistrates on sentencing.
