Family put through hell over 'hate campaign' against boy

A Penryn mother has spoken of her anguish over what she believes is a hate campaign targeting her 13-year-old son.
Sally-Ann Moses, from Penvale Crescent, said her family had been through five weeks of "hell." Three members of her family - including her five-year-old daughter - had been pelted with eggs and oranges, which had also been aimed at her house.
Stones and pieces of coal had been thrown and Mrs Moses claimed her 13-year-old son had been chased around a supermarket by a man brandishing a bottle. She also said burning paper had even been put through the letterbox of the family home, as a result of which it had now been sealed up.
She believed that it was her 13-year-old son - who has asked not to be named - who was the target, as she claimed other family members were only hit when he was with them. The family does not know the reason behind the attacks.
Mrs Moses had originally thought there were two men in their early twenties who were targeting her son, but now believes there may be four or more.
She said: "We're just living in a life of fear. I've got depression and anxiety and my son's going through depression now. He's always looking behind him.
"I can't see happy days anymore, because of what they've done to my children. It's making us ill and it's ruined our lives."
The family have been living in Penvale Crescent for two and a half months and the alleged harassment started just a couple of weeks after they moved in. "I don't want to stay here anymore, but why should we have to move? Why should they kick us out our home?" said Mrs Moses.
She said police had been "good as gold" every time the family had dialled 999, but believed the perpetrators should have been caught by now.
Sergeant Graham Claybourn, from Falmouth police station, said: "The police are dedicating a lot of time and effort in using a range of resources and tactics to try and problem solve the issue."
This week police appealed for help in tracing information on a reported incident of harassment on the 13-year-old boy between 8.45am and 8.55am on May 12, when he is said to have been hit on the back his head by an egg while he was walking to school through the Penlea Road area.
PC Tim Wilson said: "This is not the first time the boy and his family have been targeted and police strongly urge residents within the areas of Penlea Road and the surrounding streets, particularly Penvale Crescent, to contact police should they see any suspicious behaviour.
"There will be people who know who is responsible for this continued, unprovoked targeting of the schoolboy. This behaviour needs to be stopped."
Anyone with information about this incident is urged to contact police at Falmouth Station, either in person or by calling 08452 777444, quoting reference number GP/08/1308. Alternatively they can call Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
